VOPAK TERQUIMSA GIVES 220 PROTECTIVE SCREENS TO ‘CARITAS DIOCESANA OF TARRAGONA’

Vopak Terquimsa remains engaged in the fight to stop the Covid-19. The company has made a donation of a total of 220 face shields to Cáritas Diocesana de Tarragona. The objective is to supply the volunteers of the entity with the necessary material to face the emergency situation caused by the coronavirus.

Vopak Terquimsa remains engaged in the fight to stop the Covid-19. The company has delivered a total of 220 face shields to Cáritas Diocesana de Tarragona. The objective is to help the volunteers, volunteers with the necessary material to face the emergency situation caused by the coronavirus.

The 220 screens will protect the volunteers and technicians of the two social dining rooms of Cáritas, located one in Tarragona and another in Reus, and also the more than 200 volunteers of Cáritas Parroquials who help people in need and disadvantaged in the 50 help centers of Tarragona.

The general manager of Vopak Terquimsa, Eduardo Sañudo, has stated that «our commitment to the region is total. We are pleased to be able to collaborate with Cáritas Diocesana de Tarragona and thus help to curb the consequences of Covid-19. Solidarity does not understand confinement, at the moment it is more than necessary and this is how our values as a company understand it».

Josep Maria Castrillo, head of communication for Cáritas Diocesana de Tarragona, explained «we are very grateful for the face shields that will help us ensure the safety of our volunteers and technicians» and added that «during the pandemic we have not not even for a day. We serve 3,578 vulnerable families and we have had to take extra security measures by adapting the distribution of foo».  Castrillo has also launched an appeal for those who wish to participate in «the campaign 'Every gesture counts, # Caritasx3', which we have launched now since the needs have tripled and we want to try to triple donations by everyone».

The donation of Vopak Terquimsa to Cáritas Diocesana de Tarragona joins other actions that the company has carried out jointly with the Tarragona Chemical Business Association (AEQT), with the donation of 12 breathing equipment of different characteristics, equipment protection (EPIs) to the Hospital Universitari Joan XXIII in Tarragona, Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus, Hospital de Sant Pau i Santa Tecla de Tarragona and Hospital Verge de la Cinta de Tortosa.

Vopak Terquimsa continues to operate at its terminals in the Port of Tarragona and Barcelona with the corresponding security measures against Covid-19 and thus guarantee the most efficient service for the company.

Since the beginning of the crisis, Vopak Terquimsa has taken the necessary measures to protect the health and safety of employees and their immediate environment. Eduardo Sañudo explains that «safety is our highest priority and we have professionally adapted to the new day to day that we are experiencing. As CEO, I am very proud of our entire staff».
