Vopak Terquimsa is the owner of one terminal in Barcelona and another in Tarragona. These two bulk liquid storage port terminals are located in key offshore locations in two of Spain’s main ports. Our Tarragona terminal comprises one of the most important petrochemical complexes in Europe. These are critical locations for our clients from across the world.
Our terminals serve people and communities, with products that range from the production of raw materials to end-user distribution.
We provide storage services for chemicals, petroleum, gases, biofuels, and vegetable oils in three end markets: energy, manufacturing, and food.
Our terminals are operational every day of the year and are noteworthy due to their variety in terms of both tank size and infrastructure. We own 143 storage tanks with a total capacity of 657,156m3, and each terminal provides highly specific functions in accordance with the logistics requirements of every individual client and their products.

Terminal
One of our main activities at our Tarragona terminal serving the Tarragona petrochemical complex, and as such, we act as an essential infrastructure for its operations. We are connected by pipeline with most of the companies on the site, a fact that facilitates efficient and sustainable logistics, while providing continuous service to the production plants 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We help to optimize import and export logistics, from both the standpoint of economies of scale and in terms of flexibility in transport modes, while we are continually adapting to the ever-changing needs of our environment. Given the structural nature of our service, we have established long-term relationships with our clients, helping them to develop and consolidate their business interests.
Distribution
Terminal
Our two terminals in Barcelona and Tarragona are designed to deal with the importation of petroleum and chemical products, which also includes more general products - "commodities" - or more specific goods, which are known as "specialties". These products are imported from all over the world and are essential for a broad range of productive activities in society. The vast diversity of these products and the uses they are put to is immense, and covers the fuel we use in everyday transport, to material for manufacturing toothbrushes. In our business it is essential to possess a flexible infrastructure that is capable of storing such a wide range of products, each of them with their own specific needs. It is therefore essential for us to be able to guarantee the level of service that our clients expect from our company and this service provision includes product storage, the quality of our facilities and above all the experience of our staff and their knowledge when it comes dealing with such a diverse selection of imported goods.
Tarragona Terminal
Our terminal, which was founded in 1970, functions mostly on an industrial basis, although it also serves as a distribution hub. It possesses over thirty pipelines that are connected to the chemical cluster production plants and the Tarragona refinery, providing a 24/7 service, for the continuous shipments required by the productive activities of the complex.
The Tarragona terminal is used to store basic chemical products for import mainly to the Spanish market or southern Europe. Together with Barcelona this terminal is the strategic gateway for the efficient distribution and delivery of these products.
The Tarragona terminal is also a petroleum product distribution terminal that connects to important Exolum oil pipeline networks, so providing distribution throughout Spain in those locations where Exolum is active. Our capacity totals 447,001 m3, and we are the leading independent liquid bulk terminal at the Port of Tarragona.

Barcelona Terminal
The city of Barcelona is home to a dynamic economy, and one with a well-established presence in the petrochemical sector. Our Barcelona terminal was constructed in 1970, with storage facilities of some 55,000m3 (verify) for chemicals and 155,000m3 (verify) for oil products.
We provide a key location for our clients’ logistics chains, especially with regard to distribution companies and those producers introducing their products into the Southern European market. With the growth achieved in recent years we have demonstrated our firm commitment to the port of Barcelona and to our clients.
In terms of oil, the Barcelona terminal is connected to the Exolum pipeline network, and possesses 155,000 m3 for the storage of light oil products, such as diesel and kerosene, with the additional feature of a direct connection to Barcelona's El Prat Airport.
